sales上升是什么意思？难道sales还会下降？

根据战神说法是比8月下降了，那么应该如何理解？

很明显，原文没有跟去年比较的意思
而且，注意了continues to maintain an overall increase in sales，是continues，而且主语是Ps3（去年9月还没这玩艺）

自然sales指的当月销售额，具体是指软件还是硬件就不清楚了。
overall  increase in sales没有累计销售额得意思

继续保持sales上升

好，你否定了累计销售额，肯定了当月销售额，那么overall increase in 当月销售额是什么意思？

可能是指相对上月软硬件销售额增加
