战神翻译:1UP采访Harrison,关于PS3手柄加入震动的可能性

注:Harrison的答复比较不是很直接,翻译可能造成误导。如果英文好,战神建议看原文。当然,战神仔细看过并研究了原文,依然无法分析出PS3手柄会不会加入震动。

1UP: We have one question we have to ask you before we go. A couple days ago you resolved the Immersion/Sony case. What does that mean for PlayStation gamers? After months and months of "well the controller's great because it's really lite" and now rumble is going to make it a little heaver. I mean, that's a bit of a PR nightmare to sort of have backed away from a tech and now saying, "We're all back together again so it's OK".

Harrison: First of all, we've just kissed and made up. We've just settled our differences. And, as we've said in the announcements, we're looking at ways to work together. And it's genuine; those really are the intentions. As to previous statements that I made, what do you expect me to say? We were in a lawsuit; we were in litigation. Of course I have to defend our view. And you know, actually, I still truly believe having the SIXAXIS controller, the way it is, is the best way to control games. We're looking forward to working with Immersion going forward, and who knows where that will lead us.

Phil: Of course the community of fans influences a lot of our thinking The great thing about the way the world works is that we're always connected to our users and we're always happy to hear their opinions and thoughts. But you know, some things are not always possible to do, some things are not economically feasible to do, and some things are not practical to do. It's always our job to kind of navigate those issues as effectively as we can.

Harrison:索尼非常重视玩家的意见。索尼经常和玩家联系,同时乐于听取玩家的意见和想法。不过你知道,有些事是无法做到的,有些事因为收益问题而不能做,有些事因为实用性问题而不能做。同时索尼一直在尽力寻找这些事情的解决方法。

战神的看法:六轴有可能加入震动,但是也可能不加入震动。当前的问题在于,Immersion公司让索尼使用专利的期限到2009年,看起来更像是出于销售PS2相关产品的需要。索尼为PS3加入震动可以提高竞争力,但是也要考虑首批PS3和游戏购买者情绪,PS3手柄加入震动的硬件成本,以及09年之后的使用费。目前PS3已经给索尼造成巨额亏损,SCE有限的资源是否会用在震动上?毕竟PS3当前的首要问题还是游戏。

那么是不是N64,PS,PS2,DC都付了这笔费用?

Immersion公司岂不是超赚?并且可以永远赚下去?

任天堂:采用不同的技术实现震动。Immersion公司没有起诉过任天堂。

微软:交了1990万美元,永久免费使用Immersion公司专利到死。

索尼:到2009年。之后,要么交钱,要么自己研究新的解决办法。

难道SONY就不可以学任天堂,自己搞别的技术么,例如三个马达,四个马达。总能找到路子回避Immersion公司呀。
事实是,IMMERSION没有起诉任天堂。。。

你不服也没有用。。。

这不简单吗,推出带震动的零售版PS3手柄,价格与不带震动的一个价,但是主机配的就是不震的,要震就要买第二个手柄。

像WII,标配是双节棒,而对应WII的传统手柄就是选购的配件。
这样的话震动使用率不高,第三方不给游戏加入震动功能。具体可以参考PS3很多游戏不支持网战,但是X360版就支持。

没有见过你所提的“另一种说法”。

索尼给IM总额1.5亿,其中其中侵权费9720万美元。专利费5310万美元,其中的2250万美元为未来3年的专利使用费(到09年)。

A jury in Oakland, California, found in September 2004 that Tokyo-based Sony infringed two Immersion patents for so-called haptic technology, used in PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles to make game controllers vibrate with the onscreen action. The jury awarded $82 million, which grew to $90.7 million with the judge's addition of interest and costs.

With interest, that figure increased to $97.2 million, Ambler said. Sony also paid about $30.6 million as a compulsory license for the past two years, money which Immersion treated as deferred revenue. Sony will make 12 more quarterly licensing payments totaling $22.5 million through the end of 2009 and may pay other royalties during the period, Ambler said.
