Romans! Brothers! Frenemies! Why fall we to strife and discord over whether to buy a PS4 or an Xbox One, when the consoles themselves make such wonderful bedfellows? I refer, of course, to the brand-splicing possibilities represented by the Xbox One's HDMI pass-through port, which allows you to pipe a video feed into the console's dashboard. This is primarily so that you can watch cable TV and the like within Xbox One's interface, switching instantly between third-party programming and your apps and games, but according to Microsoft's senior director of product management and planning Albert Penello, there's no reason you couldn't plug in another console. "Any application can be snapped to a game...this could be the live TV feed, so if you wanted to be playing Ryse and Killzone at the same time, you could snap that," Penello told audiences at the Tokyo Game Show today, via Gamespot. Somehow, I suspect you won't be able to interact with those games using Kinect or the Xbox One's controller. Wonder if the Xbox One's video-capturing applications will allow users to upload PS4 footage to Microsoft's cloud? Because that sounds pleasantly transgressive.
