Okay, let me just preface this post really quickly: I have no idea what any of this means honestly. Apologies if I sound like I am uninformed:

The story goes that the PS3 has been hacked a lot, sometimes with minor consequences, and sometimes with huge repercussions. Thus far, Sony has managed to contain these hacks to various firmware updates, and seemed to have the problem under control until today, when we learned that something called “LV0 keys” were found and released to the public. Despite a few minutes of research, I’m not quite sure what these keys are, but what I can tell you is that they enable future hackers to much more easily exploit the console and modify games to do things that they were not intended to. It’s feasible that it also makes piracy significantly easier for hackers, and MUCH harder for Sony to fight against.

Doesn’t sound like a good thing for Sony in any case. Maybe one of you can more easily understand what’s going on here!
