Simplygon是一个图形预处理工具,会对物理场景进行自动优化。这一工具将为3D游戏制作过程实现简化,将手工劳作变为自动优化。这一技术已经应用于许多款游戏,例如《巫师3:狂猎》《星际公民》等。

媒体日前抓到了Simplygon的联合创始人Martin Ekdal,在采访中,他们谈论了DX12如何改善Xbox One和PC的图形表现,以及DX12是否能够提升Xbox One和PC的细节程度,他表示,好处是肯定有的,但大多数提升都是间接获得的。

Simplygon is a pre-processing tool that is used for automatic optimization of level of detail. The tool strives to improve LOD by by replacing manual work with automatic optimization of 3D game content. The technology has been used in several games like the upcoming The Witcher 3, Star Citizen and many more games.

GamingBolt recently caught with the Martin Ekdal who is the co-founder of Simplygon. In a very extensive interview, we spoke about how DirectX 12 could possibly improve and whether it can have an effect on the level of detail for Xbox One and PC software. Martin told us that there will be benefits, but most of them will be indirect.

“As Simplygon is a preprocessing tool, we won’t see any direct benefits from DirectX 12,” he says.

“The indirect benefits are that developers will be able to push more objects, and these objects will need optimization. It will change the landscape somewhat, while also adding more difference between the video consoles and PCs, with more need for optimizations on video consoles, as these are already on “budget” grade hardware, compared to high-end PCs.”

DirectX 12 will of of course bring new features which could possibly be beneficial for game developers but in the end there is no running away from optimization. With time, the visual bar will be raised and only quality optimization will get the developers out of trouble. Stay tuned for our full interview with Martin in the coming days.

xbox部门头儿之前说过效果有但很有限
