Dean Hall is open to the idea of releasing his acclaimed--and still officially unreleased--open-world zombie game DayZ on consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but he's not ready to commit just yet.
"We'd certainly consider release on any feasible platform with a realistic publishing model," Hall told Gamereactor. "It seems like currently both of the next-gen consoles should provide an environment we can develop inside."
Hall said he has already spoken "extensively" with Microsoft about an arrangement to bring DayZ to Xbox One, but the same isn't true for PlayStation 4. "I've not personally had the opportunity to view the full details of the PS4," he said.
Asked generally how DayZ would work on the Xbox One and/or PS4, including how the game would make use of those platforms' features, Hall said: "I personally feel the new consoles have yet to prove themselves able to rival the PC experience, however I feel there is the potential from both."
Unfortunately for people who would like to see DayZ on consoles, Hall said it's just too early to say one way or the other.
"The next-gen consoles show very exciting promise. I'm hopeful that they can deliver on that. An important part of that, from my perspective, is encouraging and supporting third-party creative development to bring the 'edginess' of PC creative development into the console," Hall said. "I think if the role of Kinect/voice expands to where it is desired it could do some awesome things. I just think it's too early to say at this point."
DayZ launched on Steam Early Access in December for $30 and has already sold over 1 million copies. Hall recently conducted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit where he revealed fascinating facts like he once (accidentally) drank his own urine, hates Windows 8, and was asked by JayZ's lawyers to change the name of DayZ. 作者: kingcrimson 时间: 2014-2-16 13:20
