On some zipped comic files it just shows the first page as 1/0 and is unable to show any other page. I tried unzipping the files and re-compressing to zip or rar format but no difference. Is there any specific file index required for it to work?

No index is needed, Mieru will just find all image files in the archive (by file extension) an load them as a chapter. You can try to just extract the offending archive to a folder and then open one of the images using the open-file dialog in Mieru - it will open the whole folder as a chapter, just like an archive. I have also added an explicit dependency on libzip1, libarchive1 - you can check if you have them installed on your device, might be also causing the issue.
