Xabi Alonso will be given the chance to stay in England and join Chelsea in an £18million deal.

The Spanish midfielder, 27, has refused to commit his future to Liverpool. Real Madrid are keen to add him to the recruitment of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

But Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Alonso (right) can play a vital role in Chelsea's challenge for honours.

Alonso has been concerned about his Anfield future since discovering his club's pursuit of Gareth Barry last summer.
