Spielberg Confirms He's Working on Project Natal Games
Since 3DV Systems' ZCam was demonstrated publicly, people associated the technology with Minority Report, the science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg in which Precrime officer John Anderton (Tom Cruise) operated a computer by waving his hands in the air. It shouldn't come as a surprise that for the public announcement of Project Natal, the controller-free gaming and entertainment experience created by Microsoft for the Xbox platform, the software giant decided to invite the director of Minority Report.
In an interview with the BBC, Spielberg confirmed he's working on video games for this controller-free Xbox technology.
He also talked up Project Natal by making an analogy with the film industry similar to the one he provided on stage during Microsoft's E3 2009 Media Briefing:
"It's like the square screen we saw all of our movies on in the early 1950s. Then The Robe came out in Cinemascope. And then came CinRam and Imax followed. That's what [Natal] is."
