Crysis failed to crack the list top ten PC games of 2007 at US retail, but still managed to quickly reach million-seller status on a worldwide basis, according to EA.
ImageWhen the NPD Group reported that Crysis sold 86,633 copies in its opening two weeks at US retail, it seemed that the highly-anticipated and critically acclaimed FPS-with-a-muscle-suit was off to a meek start.
But publisher Electronic Arts said Thursday that the game, also available as a digital download on EA Link, has already sold over 1 million copies worldwide since its release in November.
EA CFO Warren Jensen said during the quarterly earnings call, “Need for Speed Pro Street, Rock Band, The Simpsons, Half-Life 2 Orange Box, Sims 2 Castaway, NBA Live 08 and Crysis all went platinum in the quarter.
“Year to date, we have 23 titles that have sold over 1 million copies, up five from a year ago.”
The PC-exclusive Crysis was developed by Germany’s Crytek.
