The 109th league meeting of these two Greater Manchester rivals could see United at the top of the table and Bolton still below the safety line at the final whistle.
No club has won more Premier League matches this season than Manchester United (nine), and no club has won fewer than Bolton (one).
Bolton have drawn four and lost one of five games since the appointment of Gary Megson, and are chasing a first win under the new manager against the tightest defence in the Premier League.

1878年,一支由兰开郡和约克郡铁路工人组成了一支球队,名为牛顿西斯.而之后由于破产,它们将队名改为曼联.而在今天,这支英格兰历史上最成功的球队将进行他们历史上的第5000场比赛.
曼联将在今天客场迎接博尔顿的挑战,俱乐部的历史资料管理人员克里夫.巴特勒表示,这将是球队历史上的第5000场比赛,而这些比赛包括了牛顿西斯的比赛,但是并没有球队在1892年正式加入职业联赛前三个赛季的比赛,那个时候球队正在职业联盟参加比赛.
球队当初创建的时候情况非常惨淡,他们在曼彻斯特北路的一个破旧的场地内建立,也就是现在的皮卡迪利火车站附近.他们在1892年加入了职业联赛,当时他们需要资金的帮助,终于在1902年,投资者们将牛顿西斯重新命名为曼联.
1908年,曼联首次赢得了慈善盾杯的冠军,一年之后他们又首次赢得了足总杯.1910年,曼联来到了老特拉福德球场,并在1911年赢得了联赛冠军.而在1934年,曼联迎来了球队的低谷,他们降入了乙级联赛.
1945年,巴斯比爵士开始将曼联的实力和知名度带出英国,走向世界.他自己创立的一套青训体系制造了后来的"巴斯比宝贝",但是1958年的慕尼黑空难却带走了他的八位爱徒,其中包括了伟大的邓肯.爱德华兹.
但是此后曼联并没有放弃,他们在1968年成为了首支赢得欧洲冠军杯的英格兰球队.而在弗格森爵士的带领下,他们在1993年又成为了首届英超联赛的冠军得主.1999年,曼联还获得了史无前例的三冠王.无论属据统计如何,曼联115年历史内所创造的成就将永远载入体育史册.
