Ferrari did not receive tyre notification in timeFerrari have claimed their Japanese Grand Prix was ruined by a late communication from stewards ordering all cars to start the race on extreme wet-weather tyres.
Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa, third and fourth on the grid, both took to the circuit on standard wets, but were then forced to pit, dropping them to the back of the field and severely compromising their chances of challenging for victory.
“After a few laps, we were informed of a decision of the stewards that demanded the use of extreme wets,” said team principal Jean Todt. “The team had not been informed and only after the race, did we find that an e-mail had been sent to Stefano Domenicali which arrived after the start of the race. We were amazed and had to immediately call in the drivers to the pits to change tyres.”
Despite the setback, both Ferraris finished in the points. Raikkonen, in particular, drove a storming race to finish third, keeping his championship hopes alive. Massa was less fortunate. The Brazilian picked up a drive-through penalty for overtaking under the safety car and eventually came home sixth, putting him out of contention for the title. 作者: h2boy 时间: 2007-10-1 14:15
