Home consoles play catch-up
The latest software sales figures from Media Create have revealed that the DS is continuing to dominate in Japan, with more than two-thirds of the top 30 titles having been published for Nintendo's handheld.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass goes straight in at number one this week, selling more than 300,000 copies. That's over twice as many as the number two title, Square Enix's Itadaki Street DS.
《Zelda
In third place is DS Observation Training followed by the highest charting Wii title, Wii Sports, which has now achieved lifetime sales of more than 1.7 million.
《Wii Sports》
The other Wii games in the top 30 are Hajime no Ippo: Revolution and Wii Play, at six and seven respectively, and Super Paper Mario at number 24.
Wii
There are two PlayStation 2 games in the top ten this week, both making their entry into the chart for the first time. Atlus's Growlanser VI sold 27,000 copies to reach number five, while Mana-Khemia: The School Alchemists is at eight.
First-party PlayStation 3 title FolksSoul is at number 11. Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the other PS3 game in the top 30, is at number 19.
Only one Xbox 360 title made it into the charts - Saints Row, which is at number 25.
The top ten best-selling games are as follows:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS)
2. Itadaki Street DS (DS)
3. Practice by Observing: DS Observation Training (DS)
