You may finish the battle with Master Chief in Halo 3, but the war will continue for many more years.
by Micah Seff
US, March 7, 2007 - According to game industry website, Gamasutra, Microsoft big-wigs Chris Satchell and Shane Kim conducted an impromptu Q & A session at a special GDC breakfast held by Microsoft this morning. During this Q & A, the executives spoke about the future of the Halo franchise and addressed many facets of Microsoft's approach to handling the Xbox 360 further down the line.
The most diehard Xbox fans out there are likely to remember that during Microsoft's X06 conference, Bungie Studios announced two collaborations with popular New Zealander, Peter Jackson. Since then, information has been on lockdown, prompting some to pre-emptively mourn the death of this project.
This morning's most palpably huge development was Kim's confirmation that both previously announced projects are still in development, and that they would both be episodic gaming series. While both projects are currently in the design phase, the one that is furthest along is set inside the Halo universe, but will not be any sort of direct sequel to any of the previous Halo games.
Shane Kim also addressed complaints lobbied against Microsoft regarding hardware malfunctions with Xbox 360 systems. In a down-to-earth fashion, Kim stated, "It's unfortunate that people have had problems with their Xbox 360." Kim went on to acknowledge that Microsoft could use "some improvement on both sides of the situation."

X06: Peter Jackson Creates New Halo Title
The Lord of the Rings director reaches for Halo and beyond.
by David Adams
US, September 27, 2006 - In addition to their collaboration on the Halo movie, film super-group Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and team (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) will collaborate with Microsoft on two games: a new chapter in the Halo saga, and an entirely new property, the company announced in Barcelona today.
Jackson's team will work with Bungie to co-write, co-design, and co-produce what Microsoft says is a "completely new and original chapter" in the Halo series (i.e., not Halo 3). Jackson is hardly new to the Halo universe -- the acclaimed director is producing the Halo feature film.
In addition to the new Halo title, Jackson is working on a second game which Microsoft describes as an "entirely original property targeted at bringing new audiences into the captivating world of interactive entertainment." Jackson and team will create the title with Microsoft Game Studios.
Supporting these game projects, Jackson and Walsh working with Microsoft to establish Wingnut Interactive, a games studio to stand alongside Jackson's acclaimed Wingnut Films production company.
"Microsoft has built an amazing living canvas with Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, which allows the storytellers of our time to express themselves in a new medium. They have fundamentally changed how people think about games," Jackson said. "My vision, together with Microsoft Game Studios, is to push the boundaries of game development and the future of interactive entertainment. From a movie-maker's point of view, it is clear to me that the Xbox 360 platform is the stage where storytellers can work their craft in the same way they do today with movies and books but taking it further with interactivity." 作者: qazqaz 时间: 2007-3-13 01:21
