Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Main Story Is Only A Couple Hours Long

The newest issue of Game Informer is all about Metal Gear with a 20-page spread packed with information for Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. In the issue is hands-on impression on a near final build of Ground Zeroes.
According to a post,  Game Informer said that they had four hours of playtime with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Those four hours were used to "play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes." Kotaku got their hands on the issue and pulled a quote that even reveals a shorter game time for those who just want to play the main story mission.
"Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short. We completed it in just less than two hours," the magazine said.


Ground Zeroes is billed as a prologue to the main game, The Phantom Pain. From that description, most people expected the game to be short by nature. But when Konami is pricing Ground Zeroes for $40 on Xbox One/PlayStation 4 ($30 digitally) and $30 for Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 ($20 digitally), players are expecting a bit more content.
It's very possible that completing the main mission and its extras will require much more time, but for those who just want to play the main mission and be done with it, it doesn't sound like there's a whole lot of game to it. It's premature to write Ground Zeroes off at this time. Hideo Kojima's games are usually packed with all kinds of detail and for all we know, the experience, albeit short, may be worth the asking price.
I've also seen people think that MGS V: Ground Zeroes at $40 is classified as a deal not knowing that Ground Zeroes is actually just a short sampler for the main game. I'm curious to see how the audience will react to the game when it launches on March 18. Will you be picking it up?
