Square Enix CEO explains the reason behind the "multiplat decision" as Microsoft asking him to develop the game for their console, with the healthy 360 userbase in the west helping to agree to do so
Speaking with Siliconera earlier today, SE CEO, Yoichi Wada, revelaed the official reason behind FF XIII going multplat in that oh-so famous megaton. The reason can be summed in simply saying: "Microsoft asked us to", with the hefty X360 userbase helping to agree to Microsoft's request... or, as Wada put it:


"The Xbox team has been asking us to have a [Final Fantasy] game developed on our platform,” Yoichi Wada, President and CEO of Square Enix, said in an interview with Siliconera. “Also, the Xbox 360 console is available in many homes in US and European markets so that was not really a hard decision to make.”

...which is all pretty logical and believeable. Final Fantasy XIII released on both platforms yesterday, shipping 5 million so far - 3 millions in the west, and 2 in Japan.
