[新闻] EDGE评选09年最期待的XBOX360和PS3大作

PS3的:

Final Fantasy XIII
Square-Enix
Square-Enix
U.S. Release Date: TBA
U.K. Release Date: TBA

PlayStation loyalists were up in arms when Microsoft made the shocking disclosure that Square-Enix would be bringing the then-PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII to Xbox 360. No matter: it’s still coming to PS3 and promises to be an unabashed celebration of the Japanese RPG, epic in scale and true to Square-Enix’s top form.

Resident Evil 5
Capcom
Capcom
U.S. Release Date: March 13
U.K. Release Date: March 13

The Resident Evil series has always clicked with Western audiences, and all signs indicate that Resident Evil 5 will again appeal to a worldwide fanbase with its cast of sickeningly animated non-zombies and high-res graphics. 2005’s Resident Evil 4 proved to be a watershed moment in third-person shooter design, with its over-the-shoulder cam inspiring bullet bouts in everything from Gears of War to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Can RE5 and its greater emphasis on action leave a similar legacy that inspires not only gamers, but also game designers?

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
SCE
Naughty Dog
U.S. Release Date: Q4 2009
U.K. Release Date: Q4 2009

2007’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was an amalgamation of pop-n-shoot and platforming elements combined with a popcorn-munching story and plot that had players buying completely into the treasure-hunting lead man Nathan Drake. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves introduces an intriguing premise involving the 13th-century explorer Marco Polo, an adventure that Naughty Dog promises will reveal more about the inner workings of Drake’s character.

And tech heads will be happy to hear that Uncharted 2 will be “maxing out” the PS3 hardware, whereas the original used just 30 percent of the PS3’s SPUs, according to Naughty Dog.

God of War III
SCE
Sony Santa Monica
U.S. Release Date: Q4 2009
U.K. Release Date: Q4 2009

The God of War series is deliciously violent, inherently epic in scale and for many, the defining franchise for the PS2. With PS3 hardware poised to continue the series’ emphasis on astounding, sweeping eye candy, and a firm faith that Sony Santa Monica will deliver on the combat-based gameplay, God of War III has a prime chance to bring that heritage to the current generation. We’ve seen little of the game, but with a pedigree so steeped in excellence, we’re willing to bet this is will be a required purchase for many consumers.

Killzone 2
SCE
Guerilla Games
U.S. Release Date: February 27
U.K. Release Date: February 25

Confounding is the fact that Killzone 2 will actually be on retail shelves in the near future. Introduced via that infamously beautiful E3 2005 mockup trailer, there are few PS3 games that bring with them such unbridled anticipation from Sony fans, who assuredly have their proverbial fingers crossed repeating the mantra, “please don't screw this up.”

Hyperbole in the consumer games press and Internet message boards could prove to be warranted for this sequel to the 2004 original PS2 shooter. If Killzone 2 manages to deliver on its tall promises, it would be a marvelous way for Sony to round out a difficult fiscal year, as well as give PlayStation loyalists some exclusive bragging rights.

Gran Turismo 5
SCE
Polyphony Digital
U.S. Release Date: TBA
U.K. Release Date: TBA

It's been four years since Gran Turismo 4, and the famously meticulous Polyphony Digital has been using that time to sculpt GT5 into a work of technical sexiness worthy of the franchise's heritage. It may be wishful thinking that this revered racer will make 2009, but gamers hang onto the hope, waiting to see if "The Real Driving Simulator" will deliver on gameplay that matches the graphics. GT may no longer the end-all be-all of the racing sim genre, but there's nevertheless a special place reserved on many gamers' shelves for this one once the rubber finally meets the road.

White Knight Chronicles
SCE
Level 5
U.S. Release Date: TBA
U.K. Release Date: TBA

Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest IX developer Level 5 embraces giganticism with the RPG White Knight Chronicles, a game that has the lead character morph into an impossibly huge knight. White Knight is more than just a virtual exhibit of overactive pituitary glands, as the fantasy game will be built around single player and online multiplayer modes.

Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer
SCE
Quantic Dream
U.S. Release Date: TBA
U.K. Release Date: TBA

Quantic Dream will tell you that storytelling is everything, but that hasn’t kept the developer from taking advantage of current generation hardware to deliver some of the most stunningly realistic graphics in the PS3-exclusive thriller Heavy Rain. How the French studio weaves an interactive narrative with foxy graphics and innovative gameplay will be the deciding factor for this game’s success. If Quantic’s previous game Indigo Prophecy (a.k.a. Fahrenheit) is anything to go by, there’s reason to be excited about this uniquely appealing adventure.

Infamous
SCE
Sucker Punch
U.S. Release Date: Q2 2009
U.K. Release Date: Q2 2009

Sucker Punch is the studio that made a name making great platforming games based on furry woodland creatures (see Sly Cooper). In a decidedly different approach, the company is creating a gritty original open world superhero game in Infamous. This free-roaming romp takes main character Cole’s electricity-based superpower and melds it with the game’s environmental design—he’s at his best when he can tap into an area’s power grid. Large doses of superhuman platforming take the Sly Cooper formula and adds extra wattage.

MAG: Massive Action Game (tentative title)
SCE
Zipper Interactive
U.S. Release Date: TBA
U.K. Release Date: TBA

Outside of MMORPGs, the feeling of world-like scale and scope is rare in multiplayer videogames. SOCOM house Zipper Interactive hopes to remedy the situation with MAG, a shooter that supports 256 players in squads of eight in a single world. Scale alone doesn’t guarantee a game’s greatness, and we’ll see how a 256-person squad-based shooter translates from marketing bullet-points to the real world. But for now, it’s easy to give the respected Zipper the benefit of the doubt.

GTA IV: The Lost and Damned
Rockstar Games
Rockstar North
US Release: 17 February
UK Release: 17 February
It’s only an expansion pack, some would argue, but it’s one that’s worth some $25 million to Microsoft.

Halo ODST
Microsoft Game Studios
Bungie Studios
US Release: “Fall 2009”
UK Release: “Fall 2009”
Apologies if you were delighted to know Bungie had finally ‘finished the fight’ back in 2007, but evidently the franchise is too respectable and, of course, too lucrative to just leave floating in space.

Halo Wars
Microsoft Game Studios
Ensemble Studios
US Release: March 3
UK Release: Feb
Preview
The industry is always going to collide with itself; it is a collaborative enterprise, an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of conflicting incentives and ambitions.

Resident Evil 5
Capcom
Capcom
US Release: March 13
UK Release: March 13
Marching on stage in the outdoor amphitheatre of a Santa Monica high school, at E3 2007 Peter Moore was out to make an immediate impact. Every game that wasn’t going to be released that year, it was decided, would not be given a mention throughout the ninety minute show.

Alan Wake
Microsoft Game Studios
Remedy Entertainment
US Release: TBA 2009
UK Release: TBA 2009

Final Fantasy XIII
Square Enix
Square Enix
U.S. Release Date: TBA 2009
U.K. Release Date: TBA 2009
It’s difficult to explain why so much unintentionally humourous angst poured into the official PlayStation message boards after Yoichi Wada announced that Final Fantasy XIII was going multiplatform. It’s easier to understand, however, why so many 360 owners commented with shift+1s after watching the latest non-gameplay footage of a familiar franchise.

Street Fighter IV
Capcom
Capcom
US Release: Feb 17
UK Release: Feb 20

Bayonetta
Sega
Platinum Games
US Release: TBA 2009
UK Release: TBA 2009

Forza Motorsport 3
Microsoft Game Studios
Turn Ten Studios (TBC)
US Release: TBA 2009
UK Release: TBA 2009

Guitar Hero Metallica
Activision
Neversoft
US Release: “Q1 2009”
UK Release: “Q1 2009”
While we’re confident the Beatles Rock Band title will be more lucrative, surely a band such as Metallica is more – dare we say – suitable for the genre?

It’s struggling to think of many Beatles melodies that would sit ideally on a rolling guitar neck, whereas the busty Fuel has already proven to be a wonderful flirtation with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. And while there are queues of people desperate to play as Lars, who in their right mind would ever want to say “I’ll be Ringo then”?
