I saw this story on the news since it happened out here in California, and then I saw it popped up on several blogs, but I waited for more facts before reporting on it. According to CNN, "Jennifer Strange, 28, was found dead Friday in her suburban Rancho Cordova home hours after taking part in the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest in which KDND 107.9 promised a Nintendo Wii video game system for the winner."

The contest asked contestants to drink specific ammounts of water over a certain time period without having to use the restroom. The woman apparently died in her home from water intoxication. A preliminary investigation found evidence consistent with a water intoxication death.

Other contestants and the radio station personnel were in shock when they learned of the death. One contestant said the woman was doing it for her children. Nintendo was in no way responsible for the contest nor knew anything about it.
