Know your enemy

1. Stomp near Wigglers to flip them on their backs - it's the funniest thing you'll ever see. Until they flip over and 'kill your ass'.

2. You know that bit at the Melty Molten Galaxy where you buttstomp a switch, then walljump over some jets of smoke? Minimise the danger by jumping out and around the thin wooden wall. You can thank us later.

3. There's an extra life for every 7th Goomba you stomp at Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance.

4. To kill crabs, hop on their backs, then spin attack their behinds.

5. Don't let Cataquacks have all the fun: spin to daze them good.

6. During Sunbacked Sand Castle's opening, silence the bomb-chicken with a well-aimed Star Bit.

7. Stand on a Mandibug for a bit without butt-stomping it. See how annoyed he gets? Adorable. Now kill him.

8. In Good Egg Galaxy, you can destroy the rolling lava rocks with the green springy things.

9. Spied footprints in the sand? Spin nearby and a blue fella will pop out. Destroy him and his gem-filled stomach explodes open. Mmm.

Tricks of the trade

10. You can stand on the 'edge' of Sea Slide's big halfpipe.

11. A big ice-skating jump can circumnavigate the entire ice ring at Freezeflame...

12. And if you press B, you'll skate backwards.

13. Trouble On The Tower:backflip and spin under the Wiggler-filled planetoid for an alternate route down. Aaaaaah!

14. Push hard left in Deep Dark Galaxy's cannon to reach the yellow platforms.

15. Brave? From the '+'-shaped platform at Dark Matter Reactor, take a looong jump right.

16. Dusty Dune star 1: hit the final switch, then jump the instant the platforms rise. Whee!

17. It's just possible to jump up Freezeflame's left side.

Bits and bobs

18. Flick the remote to spin your 'save screen head'.

19. Hold down Z at the start of a Cosmic Mario race, then press A on 'GO!' for a sprint start.

20. Escape from a FLUDD bubble by shaking the remote.

21. To safely nab Toy Time's floating purple coins, jump, then spin while pushing left or right.
22. Talk to a mini penguin after Loopdeeswoop for a Star Bit ride.

23. There are Star Bits in the shape of an 'M' behind Honeyhive's start spot - but at Gold Leaf, they're an 'L'.

24. Try big somersaults and spins where you'd normally need Spring Mario.

Galaxy Glitches

25. Backflip and you can reach Comet Observatory's Fountain before 'time'.

26. Leap to the dino's platform at Bowser Star Reactor. It triggers the cutscene.

27. Bee-hover up the tree near Sea Slide's lighthouse, then drop. Fly meter error!

28. Stand at the very top of the area described in #48 for a camera glitch.

Hidden Teasure

30. Ground pound the stone platforms underneath Tarantox at Good Egg Galaxy.

31. Bung shells at the eels poking out of underwater caves at Beach Bowl and Sea Slide. Go on!

32. On a similar note: you can easily destroy Bigmouth Galaxy's jellyfish with a Koopa shell to the face.

33. There's a chest behind the lighthouse during Sea Slide's silver star challenge. A Koopa shell 'picks the lock'.

34. Don't start Loopdeeloop's race before grabbing the Star Bits over the first stretch of track.

35. During Luigi And The Haunted Mansion, look for a weak spot in the ceiling of the room with mad gravity. Buttstomp for more coins than you can eat. Or spend.

36. Gusty Garden star 1: there's a warp pipe to Star Bit heaven under the planet with stone ruins.

37. After grabbing the Ice Flower at Freezeflame, find the nearby water spout and nab the Big Coin atop it. COINSCOINSCOINSCOINS.

38. Spin against the pointy rocks in Deep Dark Galaxy's deep dark passage to unleash The Coins You Never Knew Were There.

39. There's a giant coin hiding under the ghost ship in Deep Dark Galaxy. Grabbage = gemmage.

40. Unlocked Snow Cap Galaxy? Give the snowmen a taste of your fiery hands - they'll give up treasure during their death-melt.

41. Feeling brave? Go for the '?' Coins on the final orange cog at Rolling Gizmo Galaxy, and treat yourself to a coin bonanza.

Super Secrets

42. Ground pound the blue switch at Bubble Blast for coin love.

43. Enter the pipe near Beach Bowl's waterfall. Bricks! Gems!

44. Hidden tile planet? Good Egg star 3: look for the checked platform on the apple planetoid.

45. Spin the pointy rocks at Ghastly Galaxy for a Rainbow Star. Turn that Chomp into chunks.

46. Good Egg star 3: pause at the Chain Chomp planet for a warp pipe and a Rainbow Star.

47. As you pass the vine-covered metal ring at Gusty Garden, point at a Pull Star to drop down to it.

48. Before lowering the big gate at Freezeflame's Blistering Core, go round the back for a wall-jump test.

49. You're in Toy Time Galaxy. You're Spring Mario. You've just climbed a tall tower. Now: head right, up a blue ramp, to a warp pipe on a green checked platform. Inside, bounce up for Star Bit Paradise.

50. Dreadnought's first star: get to the water planet, then wait. Here comes the Robo-Turtle Bus! No, seriously.

Cut those corners

51. During Boo race one, keep right for a Sling Star shortcut.

52. It's possible to wall-jump up Sea Slide's big tree, you know.

53. A Megaleg shortcut: backflip into the cage on his head and the Bullet Bills should loop over the barrier. Crafty, that.

54. Avoid all that torch-lighting rubbish in Deep Dark Galaxy's later stars: just wall-jump off the rock up to the platforms above the lake.

55. During King Kaliente's Battle Fleet, jump into a fireball launched by the melon-spitting bridge baddies to skip straight over.

56. In Freezeflame's Blistering Core, backflip up the short stone towers and you avoid the long trek to the Fire Mushroom and back.

57. After the sliding walls in Freezeflame's upper area, backflip and spin up to the Sling Star.

58. Matter Splatter Mansion: try somersaulting over walls and long jumping between 'safe' areas.

59. Wall-jump at the back of Honeyhive, near the pool up top, and you can skip almost the entire level. Neat!

1-Up paradise

60. Honeyhive: there's a 1-Up waiting just over the left fence. He wants you to fall off. Don't fall off.

61. After the train on Toy Time's first star, follow the red pipes.

62. Bouncing Down Cake Lane? When you reach the cake, jump left to a solitary red spoon and a warp pipe. There's a 1-Up inside.

63. Racing The Spooky Speedster? Take the first topmost path to find a shy 1-Up mushroom.

64. Backflip to reach the 1-Up on Toad's ship in Deep Dark Galaxy.

65. During the Topman Tribe Speed Run, look under the cigar-shaped missile. Life Mushroom 4 U.

66. Fiery Dino Piranha: backflip off the early floating block.

67. There are three 1-Ups to collect on Beach Bowl's Cyclone Stone. Turn 180 from your start point for the first, and a shortcut over to the other side of the level.

68. Get near the top of Buoy Base, then leap away from the tower.

69. In a tunnel at the heart of Gusty Garden's big rabbit-cube.

70. Backflip and spin to stand on top of the Thwomp in Blasting Through The Sand.

71. In Gold Leaf Galaxy, there's a 1-Up right at the top of the tall thin tree over by the fountain.
